Under the general direction of the Chief, Facilities Management Service (FMS), within delegated authority, the Facilities Coordinator of Overseas Properties Management Information Exchange Network (OPMIEN) will report to the Chief of Planning, Design and Overseas Properties Section (PDOPS) and is responsible for the following duties: Overall supervision of the Information Exchange Network and data gathering activities for overseas properties; provide guidance on special overseas services, contracts, planning, design and construction projects assigned by the Chief of PDOPS and conducts research and negotiations on his behalf; provide technical advice/services on behalf of the Organization in the field of building maintenance and operation where required, including information exchange program and data gathering for overseas properties; provide technical analysis of professional firm or construction contractor qualification documentation, evaluating technical properties for design and construction work; participate in planning missions, if requested and provide technical advice during such missions; provide technical and organizational support for conference/meetings planned to be held overseas; develop and facilitate exchange of common performance indicators that can be applied uniformly to measure performance and improve efficiency of services; in consultation with offices globally, identify, develop, standardize, monitor and coordinate information exchange and policy dissemination on best practices and common approaches for improved and efficient management, including budgetary and administrative operations, maintenance, alterations, environmental and safety, energy saving and other facility-related issues; interpret technical regulations, codes and standards; prepare status reports, briefing papers, updates and ad hoc reports as required; recommend solutions or modifications as appropriate; organize yearly information exchange seminars to focus on the common service aspects of facilities management; supervise unit staff members and project personnel; perform other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in architecture or engineering design and planning. A first-level university degree with a relevant combination of academic qualifications and experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Work Experience
A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in the area of facilities or construction management is required. Experience in project planning and coordination, design, analysis and construction, administration, budget and supervision is highly desirable. International experience is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this post, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language is desirable.
Other Skills
Familiarity with building codes and safety standards is required.
